Antenatal and Postnatal care
Pregnancy is an amazing experience. For the next few months you will complete a long journey, which for some can be smooth and for others might bę a bit more inconvenient. Let us take care of you and allow us to accompany you through those next months.
We aim to keep you as healthy, strong and comfortable as possible during both the antenatal and postnatal periods. Every woman goes through her pregnancy a bit differently, that is also why individualised care and tailored to your needs therapy is so crucial to our team.
Well planned physiotherapy can minimise unwanted (although common) side effects of pregnancy, help in easier delivery of the baby, treatment of injuries and boost the recovery postpartum.
Pregnancy related problems a physiotherapy can help with
- lower back pain
- pelvic girdle pain (pubic symphysis and sacro- iliac joints)
- abdominis recti diastasis (abdominal separation)
- Incontinence
- bowel conditions e.g. constipations
- pain in hips, groins and lower limbs
- lymphoedema
In addition to that, we offer our services in adjusting your environment, both home and work, to your changing condition to make it ergonomical, safe and comfortable.
Antenatal period
It starts with your pregnancy and lasts till the delivery. Through a relatively short period of time (in comparison to your lifespan) your body is going through many changes, all to adjust to a new organism growing inside you. The increased amount of hormones causing softening tissues to make delivery easier combined with additional weight often tend to indicate various conditions listed above.
Our team is here to help you go through all those changes. Minimising any possible pain, strengthening pelvic floor muscles, preventing incontinence and abdominal separation are our tasks, alongside showing you pregnancy safe activities and practices with education and guidance. We are ready to answer all of your questions!
Postnatal period
Also known as the “postpartum”, a period of time that starts right after the labour and the delivery of a baby and ends after the first six weeks. Your recovery will look differently depending on whether you had vaginal or caesarean delivery, with or without episiotomy or tear, you might be accompanied by different conditions.
One is certain- through the next weeks we will help you recover, adjusting our physiotherapy rehab plan to your specific needs, after proper assessment. Pelvic floor muscles training, manual techniques to improve your pelvic girdle movements and releasing pain or tension, scar therapy, strength and mobility training with our specialist physiotherapists, all of that to make sure you are healthy and happy.
